Bioflavonoids were originally discovered together with vitamin C and termed "vitamin P" when they were shown to enhance the effects of vitamin C. They are regarded as semi-essential to the human diet and appear to have anti-inflammatory, anti-viral, anti-carcinogenic, and anti-allergic properties, as well as being potent anti-oxidants.
