Essential Amino Acids

Amino acids are the building blocks of life. All the proteins essential to human life are composed of combinations of just 20 different amino acids. Of these 20, 8 must be obtained from the diet because the human body does not have the ability to make them itself, and consequently, these 8 amino acids are called the essential amino acids. They are: tryptophan, phenylalanine, methionine, lysine, threonine, valine, isoleucine, and leucine.
