Flax Seed Oil

Obtained from the seeds of flax (also known as linseed oil), this oil is a rich source of alpha-linolenic acid (an omega-3 fatty acid) and linoleic acid, two essential fatty acids. These essential fatty acids must be obtained from the diet. In the body they are converted into a class of hormone-like substances called prostaglandins. Flax seed oil is commonly used to help in maintaining a healthy immune system, decreasing inflammation, decreasing blood pressure, and reducing the tendency for the blood to form clots.
