Glycine

Glycine is the smallest amino acid, and because it can be formed in the body from other amino acids it is not a dietary essential amino acid. Glycine is a building block for heme, which helps transport oxygen through the blood. Glycine is also used by the liver to detoxify certain chemicals and make them water soluble for excretion.
