L-cysteine

An amino acid which serves as a building block of proteins and also as an anti-oxidant to prevent oxidative damage within the cells. Cysteine appears to reduce toxicity caused by certain chemicals, drugs, and alcohol. Cysteine may also stimulate the immune system.
