Licorice

Confusion often arises between the true licorice and licorice candy. Frequently the candy contains only traces of true licorice together with a flavoring. Licorice is very sweet and it has been used in both Eastern and Western herbal medicine for the treatment of peptic ulcers, respiratory infections, and the prevention of some allergic responses.
