Lutein

A plant chemical found in vegetables and fruits. Lutein acts as an antioxidant, protecting cells against the damaging effects of free radicals. Researchers believe that lutein is deposited into areas of the body most prone to free radical damage, especially the macula, a tiny portion of the retina responsible for 20/20. Research indicates that because of its antioxidant properties, lutein consumption may play a role in maintaining the health of the eyes.
