Proanthocyanidin

The scientific name for a group of phytochemicals (plant chemicals) that are found in grape seed extract and pine bark extract. They are also known by the name procyanidolic oligomers. They are one of the most beneficial groups of plant bioflavonoids (see), that exert many health promoting effects. Some of their recognized health benefits are as anti-oxidants, in the prevention of atherosclerosis, the strengthening of capillaries, assisting in wound healing, preventing diabetes and eye problems such as macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy.
