Vitamin B3

One of the water soluble B complex vitamins. Vitamin B3 is needed by the body to convert fats, carbohydrates, and proteins into energy. This vitamin has been shown to dramatically lower blood cholesterol (LDL - the bad cholesterol) and triglyceride levels, while at the same time increasing HDL levels (the good cholesterol). For these reasons, vitamin B3 can reduce the risk of heart attacks and possible reverse atherosclerosis. Vitamin B3 also appears to help against some forms of arthritis and migraines. Niacin, which is one form of vitamin B3, expands (dilates) blood capillaries, which leads to the "niacin flush", an itching and reddening sensation that some people experience with high doses of niacin. For this reason, many of our products contain niacinamide, which is a form of vitamin B3 that does not cause the "niacin flush".
