The world can seem like an unfriendly, threatening place, yet we all want safety, health, and happiness for our loved ones and ourselves. How can one ordinary person—you or me—make a positive difference in this world? One way is the practice “paying it forward.” While the steps might be simple, the outcome could create a sense of good will and that good will could changes the world.

Paying it forward is a third-party beneficiary concept that involves doing something good for someone in response to a good deed done on your behalf or a gift you received. When you pay it forward, however, you don’t repay the person who did something nice for you. Instead, you do something nice for someone else. For example, if someone changes your tire while you are stranded on the highway, you might shovel your elderly neighbor’s walkway after a snow has fallen,

The concept was popularized in modern times by a 2000 movie Pay It Forward, starring Kevin Spacey and Helen Hunt. In this movie, a young boy, played by Haley Joel Osment, is given a school assignment that requires him to find some way to change the world. He develops the pay it forward concept, setting forth a chain reaction of good deeds.

One of the most important things that people should remember about this concept is that it should be done with a selfless spirit. This means that one person helps another without hoping for repayment or good deeds in return. In fact, there are some organizations that allow people to pay it forward anonymously, donating money or performing good deeds without hoping for recognition. As far as the receiver of the money, gift, or good deed is concerned, he or she is told only to do something good for someone else.

  1. Choose and put into your shopping cart “VitaMist Pay it Forward product”.  This is non- specific product because we don’t know what people needs are. Perhaps you have an elderly or disabled neighbor who is too proud to ask for help or maybe child in need. You can change people’s attitudes about the world through your unobtrusive acts of kindness. Plus there is a Bonus VitaMist will match the number of products you donate. So if you donate 5 VitaMist will do 5 so a total of 10 products will be put in the pay if forward program.
  2. Do something nice for someone you don’t know (or don’t know very well). It should be something significant, and not for a person from whom you expect a good deed—or anything at all, for that matter—in return.
  3. Spread the word. If the person thanks you and wants to “repay” you (that is, pay it “back”), let them know that what you’d really like is for them to pay it “forward”—you’d like them to do something nice for three people they don’t know, and ask those three people to do something nice for three more people. The idea is to consciously increase the goodness of the world.
  4. Pay it forward. When you notice that somebody has done something nice for you, make a note in your mind to practice three acts of kindness towards other people, as described in Step 3.
